CYBERJAYA, June 11 — Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has called for an immediate end to the alleged intimidation of members of the public over their opinions on the recent Parti Keadilan Rakyat (KEADILAN) 2025 internal elections.

In a firm statement, he warned against dragging civil servants into politically motivated actions, following complaints that individuals have been subjected to police visits, device seizures, and investigation notices — allegedly for sharing personal views on social media platform X.

Rafizi revealed that he had received several reports of such incidents involving the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). One notable case involved an account holder known as @amer7211, whose phone and SIM card were seized, with his spouse filing a police report over the encounter.

Rafizi stressed that these individuals had not broken any laws, and that their posts merely reflected personal opinions on party matters. Emphasizing that such acts undermine public trust in government institutions, Rafizi stated he had begun discussions with volunteer lawyers to assist affected individuals and explore legal remedies.

He also called on political leaders to refrain from using government machinery for political ends and urged civil servants to resist pressure from any party attempting to misuse state authority to silence dissent.
