GEORGE TOWN, June 12 – The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) has confirmed that water supply pressure at Fortune Court exceeds national standards, measuring 30 psi (2.1 bar) – 114% higher than the 14 psi requirement set by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

Despite this, water issues persist on the upper floors due to the absence of an internal pump and suction tank system, which PBAPP emphasizes must be installed by the building’s management corporation.

Dato’ Ir. Pathmanathan K., CEO of PBAPP and PBAHB, stressed that increasing pressure further is not a viable solution, as it could lead to burst or leaking pipes, especially on lower floors and surrounding areas.

PBAPP clarified that the current issues are not due to insufficient public water supply but stem from internal infrastructure inadequacies. Installing proper pumping systems is crucial for ensuring consistent water flow to upper-floor units during peak usage hours.
