GEORGE TOWN, June 16 – The sixth edition of Trash Free Hill 2025 (TFH2025) was launched today with resounding support from over 800 volunteers, sponsors, and community partners, all committed to preserving the ecological beauty of Penang Hill.
Graced by YB Dato’ Seri Sundarajoo A/L Somu, Penang State EXCO for Housing and Environment, the event emphasized the collective responsibility to protect the state’s iconic green sanctuary — part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve network.
In his opening speech, YB Dato’ Seri Sundarajoo highlighted the environmental threats posed by littering, particularly from single-use plastics and non-biodegradable waste. “TFH is more than a clean-up; it is a call to action.
The trash we collect today — over 200kg last year — tells us we must do more to protect our ecosystems and biodiversity,” he said. The annual initiative not only aims to restore the hill’s natural beauty but also fosters unity, environmental awareness, and pride among Penangites.
TFH2025 was made possible through the unwavering support of numerous environmentally conscious partners, including Penang Hill Corporation, Decathlon Malaysia, The Habitat Group, Inari Amertron, Kao Penang Group, and many more.
As the campaign continues to grow each year, it serves as a vital reminder that sustaining Penang Hill requires consistent effort, shared commitment, and community spirit.
