KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 – The Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Malaysia, successfully hosted its first-ever Cataract Carnival in Petaling Jaya, providing free cataract surgeries to 60 low-income Malaysians over two days.
With support from hospitals in Ampang, Serdang, and Klang, the initiative not only restored vision for underserved patients but also raised critical awareness about preventable blindness—highlighting cataracts as the leading cause of vision impairment in Malaysia’s ageing population.
