CUPERTINO, June 19 — Apple has confirmed that Live Activities will debut on Mac this fall with macOS Tahoe 26—and users won’t need iOS 26 on their iPhones to use the feature.

According to a WWDC25 developer session, any iPhone running iOS 18 or later can send Live Activity updates directly to the macOS menu bar without requiring new app updates or code changes.

Functioning much like the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, Live Activities on Mac will appear in the menu bar, with an expanded view accessible via a click. Selecting this view will even launch the associated app on your iPhone using iPhone Mirroring.

The feature works seamlessly with existing Live Activity-enabled apps, allowing for deep integration and interactivity between iPhone and Mac—no matter the iOS version, as long as it’s 18 or above.
