GEORGE TOWN, June 19 – The Penang State Government has officially launched the Penang Green Summit 2025, positioning the state as a regional hub for sustainable energy collaboration and innovation.

Announced by Penang Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, who also chairs the Penang Green Council, the summit marks a bold evolution from the previous Penang International Green Conference and Exhibition (PGIGCE), reflecting Penang’s escalating commitment to environmental leadership.

Set to take place from 31 October to 1 November 2025 at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC), the summit is themed “Moving Towards Sustainable Energy.” It will gather leaders from industry, government, academia, and civil society for strategic dialogue on energy transition, resilient infrastructure, and green technology.

It also marks the implementation phase of the Penang Energy Framework (PEF), with a focus on aligning policy, spurring industrial innovation, and empowering communities. YAB Chow stressed that sustainability must be central to Penang’s development strategy, highlighting the state’s alignment with Penang2030 and Malaysia’s low-carbon goals.

Calling for bold, collective action across sectors, he urged all stakeholders to contribute to this shared mission. Further details about the summit programme and initiatives will be released by the Penang Green Council in the coming months.
