KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 – The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL) and the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) have formalized a strategic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing tax education, research, and compliance across the nation.

Signed by HASiL CEO Datuk Dr. Abu Tariq Jamaluddin and CTIM President Mr. Soh Lian Seng at Menara HASiL, the MoU lays a strong foundation for long-term collaboration to create a more transparent, progressive, and inclusive tax system in Malaysia.

The MoU outlines joint initiatives targeting professionals, industry players, and the public, with a focus on enhancing tax literacy and fostering a culture of voluntary and ethical compliance. It also includes cooperation in tax research, policy impact studies, capacity-building programmes, and knowledge sharing on key tax areas such as e-Invoicing, global minimum tax, and stamp duties.

This collaboration is expected to significantly boost the effectiveness and fairness of Malaysia’s tax ecosystem while contributing to national economic resilience.
