KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — Malaysia has advanced to 31st in the ICCA 2024 Country Rankings with Kuala Lumpur leaping six spots to 26th in the World City Rankings, reflecting the nation’s growing stature in the global business events arena.
Kuala Lumpur hosted 78 of Malaysia’s 129 international association meetings last year, many of which were held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), which continues to champion Malaysia’s appeal as a top-tier business events destination.
John Burke, General Manager of the Centre, attributed the success to strong international connectivity, strategic partnerships with MyCEB, and a firm commitment to sustainability and technological innovation.
With upgraded hybrid-ready spaces and a 100% food waste circularity achievement, the Centre aligns its goals with Net Zero Carbon Events initiatives and is progressing toward ISO 20121 certification. “We’re proud to contribute to a sector projected to deliver RM42.12 billion to Malaysia’s economy by 2030,” Burke said.
