KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 – The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has officially confirmed the participation of 13 clubs for the upcoming 2025–2026 Liga Malaysia season, set to commence on 8 August.
Among the competing teams are defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Selangor FC, and returning Brunei side DPMM FC, alongside newcomers Melaka FC and Imigresen FC from the AFL A1 league. All participating clubs have been granted National Licences by the First Instance Body (FIB), with DPMM FC receiving additional approvals from FIFA and the AFC.
Sri Pahang FC, despite receiving a licence, has opted out of this season, submitting an official withdrawal on 16 June. The new season will kick off with the Charity Shield clash between JDT and Selangor FC at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, with the FA Cup starting mid-August and both the Malaysia Cup and MFL Challenge Cup scheduled for January 2026.
The season, expected to span 10 months, follows a recent calendar transition aligning Malaysia’s league with international standards. The full league fixture will be announced soon, pending AFC’s ACL Elite and ACL 2 draw dates and AFF’s ASEAN Club Championship schedule.
