SEPANG, June 23 — The long-awaited KLIA Aerotrain service will officially resume operations on July 1, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today, following successful trial runs and final-phase emergency simulations at Terminal 1.
The new system, featuring three-car sets with a total capacity of 270 passengers, promises a transit time of under two minutes between the main terminal and satellite building. Loke emphasized that safety has been the ministry’s top priority, with testing monitored by the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad).
While the existing feeder bus system will remain in place during the transition, the minister expressed confidence that the aerotrain’s timely return will enhance travel comfort ahead of Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN this year and Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
