PUTRAJAYA, June 28 — Former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has criticised the government’s decision to revise the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) just weeks before its tabling, calling it a “reactionary” move that risks undermining the work of civil servants and the credibility of national policy-making.

He cautioned that the sudden changes—allegedly spurred by social media criticisms directed at Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil—could erode public trust and bypass vital stakeholder engagement.

Rafizi emphasized that 13MP was developed entirely by civil servants without external consultants, using a rigorous top-down and bottom-up consultative process over the past year. With only two weeks left before the document is set for printing.

He questioned whether the restructuring—now led by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah—would be rushed and politicised, compromising its integrity and the tireless efforts of those involved.
