SAMARKAND, June 30 – As part of its Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, Tourism Malaysia has intensified promotional efforts in Central Asia by hosting tourism seminars and business-to-business (B2B) sessions in Tashkent and Samarkand from 11 to 13 June.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Malaysia Inbound Chinese Association (MICA) and Uzbekistan Airways, aimed to foster stronger travel trade relations while promoting Malaysia’s Muslim-friendly tourism offerings to the Uzbek market.
The events showcased accredited MFAR (Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance and Recognition) providers, including Shariah-compliant hoteliers and tour operators, offering tailor-made packages for Central Asian travellers.
Tourism Malaysia’s Director of International Promotions (America, Europe & Oceania), Mr Mohd Akbal Setia, highlighted Uzbekistan’s growing market potential, with 19,835 Uzbek visitors recorded in 2024. He reaffirmed Malaysia’s goal of welcoming 45 million international arrivals and RM270 billion in tourism receipts by 2026.
