SEBERANG JAYA, July 1 – Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, officiated the Program Inspirasi Wanita: Womenpreneurs – Shaping the Future Economy at The Light Hotel, Penang today.

The initiative, organised by the Department for Women’s Development (JPW) in collaboration with the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC), underscores the government’s commitment to empowering women as key drivers of Malaysia’s economic growth.

In her address, the Minister emphasised the urgency of closing the gender gap in the labour force, where women’s participation remains at 56.3% compared to 83.2% for men, despite women leading in academic achievement.

She highlighted new policies and initiatives—including the National Women’s Policy 2025–2030 and programs like LaWa, KIRANA, and Wanita Gig@BIT—aimed at nurturing one million registered women entrepreneurs by 2030.

Calling on all sectors to create more inclusive opportunities, Nancy declared, “When a woman steps forward, she brings an entire generation with her.”
