KUANTAN, July 5 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has finalised updated guidelines for the beauty industry, aiming to enhance safety, professionalism, and consumer protection.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the revised guidelines—an update to the 2013 framework—will soon be submitted to the Cabinet after consultation with industry stakeholders and the Ministry of Health.
The improvements focus on the proper handling of machines, especially laser and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) devices, ensuring only qualified individuals operate them.
With the industry contributing RM13.5 billion to Malaysia’s GDP in 2023 and over 28,000 companies registered, Fuziah emphasised the need for a more ethical and regulated environment to support its continued growth.
