KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 – Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow officially launched the Penang Green Summit 2025 today at KOMTAR, emphasizing the state’s deepening commitment to climate action and clean energy.
Organized by the Penang Green Council, the summit themed “Moving Towards Sustainable Energy” serves as a high-impact platform uniting government, industry, academia, and civil society to address the urgent climate crisis and energy transition.
Chow reaffirmed that Penang is moving from strategy to execution, backed by the Penang Energy Framework and a decade of environmental advocacy. The two-day summit will feature strategic dialogue, cross-sector collaboration, and a Green Gala Dinner celebrating sustainability leadership.
With 2024 recorded as the hottest year globally, Chow urged all sectors to lead in this “climate emergency,” highlighting that the green economy is no longer a concept of the future but a pressing opportunity today.
He called on stakeholders to take bold steps, reinforcing Penang2030’s vision of a family-focused, green, and smart state as a national model for sustainable development.
