RIO DE JANEIRO, July 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 17th Brics Summit to explore stronger Malaysia–India ties, including the potential establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Malaysia.

The leaders discussed boosting trade, investment, and collaboration in future-oriented sectors such as digital technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and aerospace. Anwar also welcomed greater people-to-people exchanges through cultural, tourism, and education initiatives.

Both leaders reaffirmed support for regional peace and justice in global issues, including Palestine and Jammu-Kashmir, while strengthening Asean–India ties ahead of the upcoming summit in October. The Prime Minister described the engagement as brief but impactful, setting the tone for enhanced strategic cooperation between the two nations.
