PUTRAJAYA, July 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim convened a closed-door meeting with Pakatan Harapan (PH) Members of Parliament at Seri Perdana today to address critical national issues, including judicial reforms, subsidy restructuring, and potential tax policies.
Minister of Law and Institutional Reform Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said briefed MPs on Article 125 of the Federal Constitution and the proposed establishment of a judicial tribunal — a move seen as pivotal amid public discourse surrounding judicial vacancies and integrity.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the two-hour session served to align PH lawmakers on sensitive matters before the upcoming parliamentary session, following a similar meeting with Barisan Nasional MPs days earlier.
While the specifics of the discussions remain confidential, the gathering underscored the government’s effort to ensure cohesive messaging on judicial independence and structural reforms. Anwar, giving a thumbs-up as he departed for Shah Alam, described the meeting as having gone “very well.”
