GEORGE TOWN, July 18 — The Penang State Government has received an official Notice to Proceed (NTP) dated July 15, 2025, from MRT Corporation (MRTC) to SRS Consortium Sdn. Bhd., the appointed main civil contractor (CMC1) for the LRT Mutiara Line.
With this, construction work will officially begin, including utility relocation, road widening, piling works, and site establishment at approved sections of the alignment. Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow expressed his gratitude for the milestone and confirmed that the state awaits the awarding of contracts for CMC2 and system works.
He emphasized the importance of public cooperation during the project period and announced that a strategic communications platform will soon be launched to keep the public informed and engaged throughout the construction phase, which is set for completion in 2031.
