MATANG, July 21 — In celebration of YTL Group’s 70th anniversary, YTL Cement Group launched a mangrove planting initiative at Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve, Perak, planting 700 saplings as part of its CSR platform, BUILDS. The event gathered 135 volunteers, including employees from across Malaysia, government agencies, and students from SMK Convent Teluk Intan, marking a collective effort toward environmental stewardship.

The initiative was officiated by Dato’ Ts. Dr. Hj. Mohammad Ezanni bin Mat Salleh from the Department of Environment Perak and supported by the Perak State Forestry Department. Positioned under BUILDS’ pillars of Community, Sustainability, and Education, the programme reflects YTL Cement Group’s long-term commitment to green initiatives and national sustainability goals.

“With sustainability at our core, we are not just future-proofing projects, we are building progress that extends beyond business,” said Dato’ Halimah Hassan, Director of Green Enable Technologies. Since 2022, BUILDS has planted over 1,600 trees across multiple sites in Malaysia, reinforcing the Group’s vision of aligning infrastructure growth with environmental preservation.
