GEORGE TOWN, July 22 — Tourism Malaysia today marked a new chapter in regional travel with the official launch of Cambodia Airways’ direct flight between Phnom Penh and Penang.
Operated by an Airbus A319, the twice-weekly route (Thursdays and Sundays) is expected to boost tourism, business, and cultural exchange between Cambodia and Malaysia ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
The inaugural flight touched down at Penang International Airport, reinforcing efforts from both nations to enhance air connectivity and mutual tourism growth.
With over 77,000 Cambodians visiting Malaysia in 2024 and a 47% increase in tourism receipts, the new route is a timely addition to support the rising travel demand and deepen bilateral relations.
