KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — In a move to support Malaysians facing rising living costs, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that there will be no toll rate increases in 2025 for 10 major highways, despite earlier agreements signed by the previous administration.
The decision, part of the government’s “Appreciation for the People” initiative, is expected to benefit around 941,000 daily commuters, especially those who travel to work using these expressways.
The affected highways include Cheras–Kajang (GRANDSAGA), KL–Kuala Selangor (LATAR), NNKSB, SDE, LPT2, SKVE, JSAHMS, DUKE, MEX, and LLB. To maintain highway operations and safety standards, the government will compensate concessionaires with over RM500 million through the Ministry of Finance.
Public Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi emphasized that the decision reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to prioritizing the people’s welfare in national policy-making.
