GEORGE TOWN, July 25 — In celebration of National Day and Malaysia Day, the Penang Port Commission (SPPP) will offer free ferry rides for all Malaysians on August 31, as well as September 15 and 16.
SPPP chairman Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement of a special public holiday on September 15 ahead of the national Malaysia Day event in Butterworth.
Yeoh emphasised that the initiative, in collaboration with Penang Port Sdn Bhd, aims to promote the use of public transport during major national events and reduce the financial burden on the public.
He also lauded the government’s commitment to strategic measures that support the wellbeing and appreciation of Malaysians nationwide.
