GEORGE TOWN, July 26 — MUDA Pulau Pinang has voiced serious concerns over the continued delay in the implementation of the RM100 million fund allocated under the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) since last year.
The fund, meant to uplift the Indian B40 community through education, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic development, remains without official updates or transparent explanations. Despite the appointment of YB Prabakaran as the MITRA Task Force Chair and a forum held on July 18, no outcomes have been publicly disclosed.
MUDA Penang is urging MITRA or relevant authorities to clarify the current status, reasons for the delay, and any follow-up plans—warning that failure to utilise the allocation before the end of Q3 2025 could result in the funds being returned to the Finance Ministry.
