GEORGE TOWN, July 27 – The Penang State Government has officially launched the Penang Chip Design Academy (PCDA), a national strategic hub to train 1,000 integrated circuit (IC) design engineers in advanced technologies such as AI chip architecture, high-speed memory, and advanced packaging.
Anchored under the Penang Silicon Design @5KM+ initiative and aligned with the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), PCDA positions Penang as Southeast Asia’s epicentre for next-gen semiconductor design innovation.
Developed in collaboration with PSDC and industry partners, PCDA’s hands-on IC Design Mastery Courses equip both fresh graduates and working engineers with real-world skills in physical design, verification, and analog layout.
With its AI-ready talent pipeline and cutting-edge curriculum, PCDA is set to accelerate Malaysia’s vision for ‘Made-by-Malaysia’ chips, cementing Penang’s role as a global innovation powerhouse in the upstream semiconductor ecosystem.
