GEORGE TOWN, July 30 – The MPSEA Solar Roadshow 2025 kicked off in Penang with an inspiring opening speech by YB Zairil Khir Johari, Chairman of the State Infrastructure, Transport, and Digital Committee. Celebrating Penang as a beacon of progress.
YB Zairil reaffirmed the state’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability under the Penang Energy Framework, which targets 10% renewable energy and 25% energy efficiency by 2030. He highlighted solar PV’s immense potential in Malaysia, while calling for greater collaboration to overcome industry challenges and support the nation’s 70% renewable energy target by 2050.
Addressing over 300 participants from industry, academia, and government, YB Zairil emphasized the importance of innovation, policy reform, and infrastructure development, including the upcoming Mutiara Line LRT and sustainable public transport.
He praised MPSEA’s role in accelerating awareness and adoption of solar technology nationwide, urging attendees to actively contribute ideas and partnerships that will shape Malaysia’s green future.
