KUALA LUMPUR, August 2 — YTL Cement, in collaboration with the Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM), has launched Malaysia’s first pilot Repurpose Concrete Aggregates (RCA) facility, marking a major step toward circular construction in line with the National Construction Policy 2030.
Operational since June and located in Jalan Chan Sow Lin, the facility transforms fresh returned concrete—estimated at 5% of Malaysia’s annual concrete output—into reusable aggregates, significantly reducing reliance on virgin materials and environmental impact.
Launched by CIDB Chief Executive Puan Zainora Zainal and YTL Cement Director Datuk Aziyah Mohamed, the initiative is the result of a 2023 MoU between YTL Cement and CREAM. It aims to drive sustainable construction practices through R&D, upskilling, and innovation.
Both leaders emphasised the need to view returned concrete not as waste but as a renewable resource, encouraging replication of the model nationwide to meet long-term sustainability goals.
