MANILA, August 3 — As the Philippines races to catch up in Southeast Asia’s electric vehicle (EV) push, Vietnamese automaker VinFast is rolling out a full ecosystem strategy to address key adoption barriers: charging access, after-sales service, and cost.

With just 4% of car sales in the Philippines being electric in 2024, VinFast’s approach offers a major boost—opening over 60 showrooms, building 15,000 charging ports, and partnering with service providers to establish more than 100 maintenance outlets by 2025.

Beyond infrastructure, VinFast is also tackling public familiarity and confidence through collaborations like Green GSM, the country’s first all-electric taxi service. With initiatives including a free nationwide charging program and buyback guarantees.

VinFast’s model positions the Philippines to accelerate EV adoption while creating local jobs, reducing fuel imports, and supporting the country’s climate goals.
