IPOH, August 9 – Chemical Industries (Malaya) Sdn. Bhd. (CIM), a subsidiary of Hexza Corporation Berhad, has officially opened its pioneering corn-based ethanol production facility in Ipoh, Perak.
This marks a major shift from molasses to corn as a primary feedstock, with the plant producing ethanol through natural fermentation and repurposing byproducts into Distiller’s Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) for livestock feed — a first for Malaysia.
The new facility not only enhances CIM’s sustainability credentials but also strengthens the nation’s bio-based value chain, promoting food security and circular economy practices. Backed by high ESG standards, the plant reflects CIM’s long-standing commitment to responsible innovation and industrial excellence.
With strong support from MIDA and InvestPerak, this initiative positions Perak as a hub for sustainable manufacturing and high-impact investments. CIM, Malaysia’s first ethanol producer since 1962, now broadens its market with a diversified product line that includes ethanol, DDGS, and natural vinegar — solidifying its leadership in green industrial transformation.
