PUTRAJAYA, August 13 — Malaysia has once again been named the top Muslim-friendly travel destination globally, according to the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) 2024/2025 Report. The recognition reflects Malaysia’s sustained efforts in policy-making, industry collaboration, and innovation that have helped shape a structured and inclusive tourism ecosystem for Muslim travellers.

“Just as the Petronas Twin Towers became an iconic symbol in 1998, our leadership in Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality is now a new landmark of Malaysia’s global identity,” said Nur Alyssa Coraline Yussin, Director of Research and Training at the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC).

Malaysia’s dominance in the sector is further supported by strong public-private partnerships, upskilling programmes, and digital initiatives such as MDEC’s Digital Tourism Innovation Lab. From halal cruises and Mosque Tourism to collaborations that bring in Muslim tourists from China, Malaysia is setting the pace for the future of culturally respectful and inclusive travel.

With Visit Malaysia 2026 on the horizon, ITC is intensifying efforts to meet growing global demand, ensuring the country remains a top destination for Muslim travellers.
