PUTRAJAYA, August 13 — Pandan MP and former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has confirmed that his 12-year-old son was physically attacked by two unidentified men outside a shopping mall in Putrajaya this afternoon.
The assault occurred at about 1.45pm in the parking area, when the suspects, dressed entirely in black with full-face helmets, allegedly dragged the boy and pricked him with a syringe. Rafizi said CCTV footage showed the attackers arriving on a motorcycle and following his wife’s car before carrying out the planned assault.
His son was immediately taken to Hospital UPM for treatment and is now under medical observation. Sepang District Police Chief Norhizam Bahaman, who visited the hospital, confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the attack.
Rafizi stated that this was the first time his family had been targeted in such a manner, suggesting the incident was a warning for him to stop speaking out on certain issues. He expressed gratitude to the police and medical staff for their swift response and vowed not to bow to intimidation, pledging to continue his duties as usual.
