PUTRAJAYA, August 14 – Former prime minister Najib Razak will proceed with his bid to enforce an alleged royal addendum that would allow him to serve the remainder of his SRC International sentence under house arrest.
The Federal Court today upheld the Court of Appeal’s January 6 decision permitting Najib to present additional evidence and directing the High Court to hear his judicial review application. Najib, convicted of misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International, has been serving his term at Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022.
The attorney-general previously argued that the former leader had no arguable case to merit a full hearing, but the apex court’s ruling clears the way for the matter to be litigated in the High Court.
