KUALA LUMPUR, August 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has vowed decisive and transparent action to curb the rise of extreme behaviours in the country, following a series of violent incidents, including the recent assault on the son of Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and several fatal bullying cases.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar described the situation as “deeply worrying” and assured that the Home Ministry and police would act swiftly to end the harmful culture. The matter was raised by Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik (PH-Balik Pulau) during Minister’s Question Time, who condemned the attack on Rafizi’s family member.
And called for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. He had earlier sought clarification on Petronas’ asset portfolio rationalisation and strategies for navigating global market uncertainties.
Yesterday, Selangor police confirmed that Rafizi’s son was assaulted in Putrajaya at around 2pm in a shopping mall’s pick-up and drop-off area. Rafizi alleged that his son was dragged by a man and injected with a syringe, with the attack carried out by two men on a motorcycle dressed in black and wearing full-face helmets.
