PUTRAJAYA, August 18 – As part of its phased subsidy targeting strategy, the MADANI Government will restructure the egg subsidy beginning 1 August 2025 to ensure sustainable and impactful support for the people.

A new “Special Grade Egg” category will be introduced by the industry to maintain affordable prices, while programs like Agro MADANI and Jualan Rahmah continue to offer competitively priced eggs nationwide.

The move follows nearly RM2.5 billion in temporary subsidies from 2022 to 2024, aimed at supporting citizens and the poultry industry during global supply disruptions. With market conditions stabilising, the government aims to optimise spending and redirect savings to broader welfare initiatives.

Enforcement under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 will also be intensified to prevent price manipulation and ensure fair pricing for consumers.
