KUALA LUMPUR,August 18 – The Malaysia League (Liga M) 2025/2026 season began smoothly with most Super League teams already playing two matches, and as expected, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) sits at the top.
Negeri Sembilan FC’s spirited performance against the reigning champions at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium last Tuesday was a major talking point, nearly shocking the Southern Tigers and thrilling local football fans.
However, the long-standing issue of salary arrears continues to cast a shadow over Malaysian football. Despite the excitement on the pitch, stakeholders and fans are urging clubs to steer clear of financial mismanagement that has plagued past seasons.
The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has implemented Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations for the 2025/2026 season, requiring clubs to submit financial reports every two months.
This move is hoped to finally put an end to the “cancer” of unpaid wages and protect the integrity of the league.
