GEORGE TOWN, August 20 — Police have confirmed receiving a report after a viral video showed an arrow lodged in a car along Jalan Macalister, Penang. The incident, involving a 57-year-old local driver from Ayer Itam, occurred on Aug 13 at around 3.30pm when the victim’s vehicle was struck on the rear right door by an arrow believed to have come from an archery training session nearby.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Northeast District Police said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief. Checks revealed that the archery training, organised by the Penang State Sports Council at a school field adjacent to Jalan Macalister, was halted on Aug 14 following the complaint.
The matter has also been referred to the Penang State Sports Council and the State Education Department. Police have urged the public not to speculate on the incident to avoid disrupting the investigation.
