KUALA LUMPUR, August 23 – Beneficiaries of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme can use their MyKad to purchase essential goods across participating outlets nationwide. To ensure a smooth shopping experience, the Ministry of Finance has outlined a simple step-by-step process.
1. Choose Eligible Essential Items
Recipients may shop for goods from 14 approved categories, clearly marked with the MyKasih label on price tags at shelves. Only items under these categories are allowed under the programme.
2. Verify with MyKad
At checkout, present your MyKad to the cashier for verification. The cashier will verify your eligibility before processing the purchase.
3. Scan and Pay Using MyKad
The cashier will scan your selected essential items from the approved categories. Once the total is confirmed, simply enter your 6-digit PIN to complete the purchase using your MyKad balance.
By default, your PIN is usually the first six digits of your MyKad number. However, you can request to set your own PIN if you haven’t done so, or reset it if one has already been set.
4. Keep the Receipt for Record
After payment, beneficiaries should retain the printed receipt. This serves as proof of purchase and allows easy tracking of remaining SARA balance, which can also be checked online or via the MyKasih app.
By following these simple steps, Malaysians can fully utilise their SARA benefits to purchase approved essential items efficiently and conveniently at participating outlets.
