PUTRAJAYA, August 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has affirmed that peaceful gatherings may continue outside Parliament, rejecting proposals to move them to Padang Merbok. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the prime minister emphasized that such assemblies should not be restricted from taking place in front of Parliament, including directly outside its gates.

However, Anwar stressed that access routes must remain clear to prevent delays for lawmakers and staff entering or leaving the building. Fahmi noted that the decision upholds the people’s right to assemble peacefully while ensuring parliamentary operations are not disrupted.
