PUTRAJAYA, August 27 — The upcoming Budget 2026, to be tabled on October 10, will be the first fiscal framework aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan and is built upon three strategic pillars: raising the ceiling, raising the floor, and strengthening public sector governance.

Minister of Finance II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, said the budget will prioritize enhancing national competitiveness by focusing on high-growth, high-value sectors such as semiconductors, energy transition, and the Islamic economy.

Support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups remains a core focus, with the government aiming to boost “Made by Malaysia” products and services. The digital economy, artificial intelligence, and value-based innovation will also be key drivers.

Speaking at the inaugural Budget 2026 Engagement Council, Amir Hamzah addressed nearly 300 stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and international organisations, emphasizing the need for a forward-looking and inclusive budget that empowers all segments of the economy.
