PUTRAJAYA, August 30 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke will submit a detailed report to the Cabinet following the 25-minute power outage at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) yesterday.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the report would outline the causes of the incident and the preventive measures Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) will implement to avoid a recurrence. He added that Loke assured the Cabinet none of the airport’s critical systems were affected.
The blackout, which occurred during a scheduled event attended by Loke, was described by the minister as “completely unacceptable,” noting it could tarnish Malaysia’s international image. The report, expected soon, will include proposals for additional fail-safe mechanisms to strengthen KLIA2’s resilience against future disruptions.
