KUALA LUMPUR, September 1 – Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that the recent disruption of the KLIA Terminal 1 Aerotrain was not a breakdown but a minor software glitch that was resolved within 15 minutes.
Addressing media concerns at the Asean-China International Rail Transit Forum, Loke assured the public that such technical issues are typical in complex systems and emphasised the need for continuous software maintenance and contractor oversight by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
Loke also reaffirmed the steady progress of the third-generation Electric Train Service (ETS3) project to Johor Bahru, clarifying that there have been no delays. The Segamat phase is already operational, with Kluang service starting before August 31 and Johor Bahru Sentral expected by year-end.
Additionally, he called for stronger regional collaboration to enhance rail freight connectivity between Asean and China, citing shared efforts with Thailand and Laos as vital to achieving seamless integration.
