PETALING JAYA, September 2 — Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook said the government will only consider approving the Kedah Aerotropolis project once KXP AirportCity Holdings Sdn Bhd addresses concerns raised by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom).

The RMAF cited issues involving air traffic management, safety, and defence stability, while Mavcom flagged doubts over the company’s RM5.67 billion financing capability, lack of risk mitigation strategies, and “overly ambitious” cargo projections.

Loke added that the firm, wholly owned by the Kedah State Development Corporation, has been asked to submit detailed financial projections, contingency plans, and supporting documents before the government proceeds with its consideration.
