KUALA LUMPUR, September 11 — Dang Wangi Police Chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman sustained a head injury after being struck by a rock during a tense demolition and electricity cut-off operation in Kampung Sungai Baru, where some residents resisted dispersal orders.

Images of his bloodied injury went viral, sparking outrage and concern, while Bukit Aman confirmed the General Operations Force is on standby to assist if needed. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim condemned the assault, describing it as a “heinous act” and urged authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible, while also warning the public against violence, incitement, and misinformation.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions ahead of the eviction, with reports of WhatsApp messages offering payments to individuals posing as residents to join protests, raising fears of orchestrated unrest in the community.
