GEORGE TOWN, September 12 — The Penang Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), together with the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIPP), inspected food outlets at a Bayan Lepas shopping mall and Gurney Drive after a viral video alleged misuse of a Jakim halal certificate.
State KPDN director S. Jegan said no official Jakim halal logo or misleading representation was found, but both premises, believed to be under the same company, were issued inspection notices and advised to comply with regulations.
Authorities will continue monitoring amid concerns the alleged certificate may have been removed following the incident.
