PUTRAJAYA, September 14 — The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has recommended disciplinary action against officers from the Department of Fisheries (DOF) Johor for procedural violations in approving applications involving five trawler vessels.
An investigation revealed that one of the vessels had been approved for ownership transfer, base transfer and/or modification without adhering to the Government’s Trawler Elimination Policy, undermining national efforts to manage fisheries resources.
Following its probe under Section 27(4) of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009 [Act 700], the EAIC referred its findings to DOF’s Disciplinary Authority. The Commission advised that action be taken under Regulation 38 of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 for disobedience of orders under Regulation 4(2)(i).
Stressing the importance of strict compliance to safeguard Malaysia’s fisheries management framework.
