SEBERANG PERAI, September 16 — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil visited Politeknik Seberang Perai today to review the implementation of the public university Wi-Fi project under the JENDELA initiative, which has been operational since July 14.

The upgraded service provides faster, more stable, and wider high-speed internet access, enhancing digital learning, campus administration, and research in line with the MADANI Government’s digital accessibility goals.

With 554 Wi-Fi 7 access points delivering speeds of over 300Mbps, the Polytechnic now benefits from significantly improved connectivity. During the visit, Fahmi also engaged with 70 students participating in the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS), which promotes digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness on issues such as online scams, cyberbullying, oversharing of personal data, and fake news.

He added that the Higher Education Ministry has requested additional Wi-Fi access points for campuses not covered in earlier phases. With the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) tasked to assess the proposals for prompt rollout. To date, more than 34,000 access points have been installed across nearly all public universities nationwide.
