KUALA LUMPUR, September 16 — PAS has officially opened its doors to non-Muslims with the creation of an associate membership category, following constitutional amendments approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) last month.
Announced by secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan at the party’s 71st annual congress in Kedah, the move sees members of the Non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP) formally absorbed into the party structure, boosting PAS’s membership to 1.3 million.
Under Article 10 of the revised constitution, Malaysians aged 18 and above who adhere to a faith other than Islam can now apply as associate members. Takiyuddin said the reform elevates DHPP to equal footing with other PAS wings, including As-Sabiqun (veterans), further broadening the party’s outreach and inclusivity.
