PUTRAJAYA, September 22 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced the launch of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme, a targeted fuel subsidy system that will take effect on September 30, 2025.

Under this initiative, Malaysians with valid driving licences can purchase RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre, compared to the current RM2.05. Non-citizens, however, will pay the unsubsidised price, estimated at RM2.60 per litre. Each Malaysian driver will enjoy a monthly subsidised quota of 300 litres, with the exception of e-hailing drivers who may apply for higher allocations to support their work.

The government emphasised that savings from this transition will be channelled back to the people through programmes such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), while also strengthening healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

To ensure smooth implementation, BUDI95 will be rolled out in phases — police and military personnel will gain early access on September 27, STR recipients on September 28, and all eligible Malaysians from September 30. Purchases will require MyKad verification at petrol stations, with options available via MyKad terminals, e-wallets, and fuel apps such as Setel and CaltexGo.

The Ministry of Finance will issue further updates as the system progresses.
