KUALA LUMPUR, September 29 — The Finance Ministry reported that RM2.6 million worth of RON95 petrol was purchased on the first day of the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) initiative, with total sales climbing to RM3.7 million as of noon yesterday.

The subsidy scheme, which allows eligible Malaysians to buy RON95 at RM1.99 per litre, first benefited over 90,000 members of the Armed Forces and police, before expanding today to five million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients under the B40 group.

Full nationwide rollout will begin on Sept 30, covering 16 million Malaysians with MyKad and valid driving licences. The Finance Ministry said Budi95 has run smoothly with stable MyKad verification at petrol station terminals, despite minor issues involving inactive licences and faulty chips.

Since its Sept 25 launch, the Budi95 portal has attracted 8.1 million checks for subsidy eligibility, while the Selangor National Registration Department confirmed processing over 11,000 MyKad applications this month to support public access to the initiative.
