KUCHING, October 1 — X-FAB, a global leader in analog and specialty semiconductor manufacturing, has launched a RM3 billion expansion of its Sarawak facility, increasing wafer production capacity from 30,000 to 40,000 units per month.

The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, will produce advanced chips for automotive, medical, and industrial applications, strengthening Malaysia’s position as a critical player in the global semiconductor supply chain.

The expansion, aligned with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the 13th Malaysia Plan, and the National Semiconductor Strategy, is expected to create high-value jobs, enhance local supply chains, and drive socio-economic growth in Sarawak.

Backed by strong support from MITI and MIDA, X-FAB’s investment reflects international confidence in Malaysia’s long-term industrial reform and technological ambitions, further cementing its role as a global hub for advanced manufacturing.
