SEPANG, October 4 — Five Malaysians and one Bruneian involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission have returned home after falling ill and being flown from Athens, Greece.

Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said the group, including activists Tuan Mohamad Asri Tuan Hussein, Abdul Rahim Azhari, Muhammad Khairin Afiq Mohd Subkhi, Ahmad Safuan Ujar, Nur Ilham Fansuri Zainal Rashid, and Bruneian Rezahmaisalamah Md Yusof, will resume volunteer duties with SNCC.

The GSF, which saw more than 500 activists from 44 countries attempt to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza and deliver aid, has faced intense challenges, with 23 Malaysians confirmed detained by Israeli forces. Dr Sani assured that the families of those detained were being kept updated with verified information, while legal teams in Jordan and international partners continue to pursue the activists’ release.
